Impact Startups are making an indispensable contribution to making our society more sustainable. Be it climate, energy or social innovation - within Startups for Society, everything revolves around future-proof solutions.
One such startup is created for the future, a dynamic consultancy founded by Jari Gabriëls. His mission? To help governments and companies move towards profitable sustainability. Not only through advice, but also by actively helping to implement solutions.
"Many sustainable projects are rolled out top-down, without really connecting to the needs of the target group," Jari explains. "We reverse that: we start with the individual. From there, we build collective solutions that actually pay off."
That approach already brought results in Helmond: an inventory among 1,800 entrepreneurs led to a concrete overview of sustainable opportunities. "We map strategic clusters - for example in business parks or within sectors such as healthcare - and link feasible solutions to them."
A unique element in created for the future's approach is its focus on young mindsets. "Young people are not yet stuck in linear thinking frames. They dare to think outside the box. But we always pair them with senior experts to ensure quality and applicability," Jari explains.
This combination of fresh ideas and experience produces innovative projects. For example, we worked with the municipality of Tilburg on a sustainability issue surrounding the design of 25,000 new-build homes. "We explored needs and opportunities and organised working sessions with housing associations, furniture manufacturers, moving companies and educational institutions, among others."
For the future, created for the future wants to use the current approach more broadly, including for SMEs. "The methodology we now apply in healthcare, we want to develop further for other sectors. Think fast, efficient sustainability processes with digital support and AI solutions," Jari says.
In addition, Jari dreams of a community of companies, students and partners building a climate-neutral Netherlands together. "A network that not only works together, but is also proud of what it achieves together. Where sustainability is not only a responsibility, but also something you want to be seen with as an organisation."
