With 30% of global emissions coming from food production, Purvi Sankhla and Oscar de Vries thought things had to be different. Thus were born Yopla, an innovative SaaS platform that helps hospitality and catering companies make more sustainable choices. By using AI to calculate the CO₂ footprint of food, Yopla gives businesses insight into their impact and offers concrete tools to improve it.
The idea for Yopla originated in founder Purvi Sankhla's homeland: India. "I grew up in a rural area and was inspired by the simplicity of sustainable living," she says. "Yopla connects the traditional lifestyle of sustainability with the technological advantages of the modern world. With the right tools, people and businesses can easily make more sustainable choices."
Yopla primarily targets the B2B market, such as restaurants, caterers, cafes and hotels. "With Yopla, you can see exactly what the CO₂ emissions of a meal are," explains Purvi. "This helps businesses make more conscious choices and identify concrete areas for improvement. It makes sustainability simple and clear."
Purvi, along with its partners Manisha Takale and Oscar de Vries, is working hard to grow Yopla. "Yopla is already being used by several companies in the food sector, and we continue to partner with trendsetters who want to make an impact with us. Our participation in The Connection has helped us make valuable connections and increase our visibility. In the near future, we will be at various pitch events, both nationally and internationally, to further propagate our mission."
With Yopla, sustainability is literally put on the menu. A step towards a future where food choices contribute to a better world.
